My Holiday Skincare Holy Grail Products

So I’m off on holiday to get some winter sun and as well as wanting to look nice in the evenings I need to take special care of my skin whilst in a hot sunny climate. Not only do I have to worry about sun damage but also dehydration.

During the daytime by the pool or on the beach I obviously wear SPF with a high UVA protection too. My favourites are Nivea, Piz Buin or Amber Solair but there are many different brands out there and it really does depend which is on offer and the amount of UVA protection included in the product.

It’s actually UVA that ages your skin and so I always look on the back of the product to see that it has a minimum of 3, possibly 4 stars. The more stars the higher the protection.

As a woman in her 40’s (Shhhhhhhh) I also ensure when I get back to my room and have showered and cleansed my skin with my Halo Pad I then use Garner Micellar water (On holiday I use micellar infused with oil) as oil based cleansers are best at removing oil based products such as sun cream.

Once I am clean and fresh and de-greased from the sun cream I then usually use my serum, however I am currently loving the Primark Beauty serum in cream moisturiser which is a bit of a holiday cheat product. This product is a current holy grail moisturiser and is a must for tired and abused skin. Under this I use the Primark beauty every night eye mask and overnight lip mask, which both feel gorgous on my skin and boost the moisture content. Whilst they are settling in I then make sure that I cover my body in Vaseline Aloe Vera Body Moisturiser as you need to look after all of your skin not just your face !!!!

Even though I’m on holiday I always take face masks and will do at least 2 during a two week holiday to give my skin the extra boost that it needs. If I’m feeling brave a sat in a window seat on the plane, I usually apply a sheet mask on the plane too however on this holiday I left it too late checking in and am in an aisle seat surrounded by teenage boys and even my confidence failed me and my face mask stayed in my bag!

Whilst on holiday I always take two foundations, one my current colour and one the shade I know that I go on holidays and mix them whilst my tan is building up. I must confess that as my skin clears up in the sunshine and I have more of a tan I wear less and less foundation and more concealer just in the areas which need it (It doesn’t matter how much sleep I get on holiday I always have dark circles !)

I tint my lashes and tint and shape my brows during the day so again I don’t need to wear a lot of makeup in these areas however I do always need a bit of blush, highlight and eyeshadow in the evenings.

My Makeup Bag contains the following products for my holiday:

MUA 24K Facial Oil Base

Primer: Illamasqua Hydra Veil

Concealer: MAC Fix + 24hr Concealer in NW20

Foundation: Loreal Perfect Match in shades 2N and 3N

Powder: Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder in no 2 medium

Highlight & Contour: Tarte Cosmetics be afraid to dazzle contour and highlight Palette

Blush: MAC Peachykeen blusher

Eyeliner: Bobbi Brown Gel Liner in Chocolate Shimmer Ink or PIXI Soft smokey double ended liner

Eyeshadow Palette: Tarte Cosmetics Flawless On The Fly palette

Eyebrows: Urban Decay brow beater pencil with MAC Brow Set in clear.

Setting Spray: Urban Decay All Nighter or MAC Fix + in Coconut

Lips: Bobby Brown lipstick in Sandwash Pink and or MAC Lip Glass in ample pink

Most nights when my lips has worn off I just use Dr PawPaw ointment in Red for lips and cheeks to top up as it makes my lips feel lovely and soft whilst having a gorgous tint.

It seems a lot of products however during the course of the holiday I find that most evenings I wear very little makeup and generally just powder my face, use a smokey liner and mascara and blush / highlight.

Tips for travelling with Makeup Products

When I travel I always travel with my husband and apart from a mini deodorant I an lucky that I can use his airport liquids bag to pack my skincare into. I use my bag for my liquid and gel products.

All powder palettes are packed in my makeup bag in my hand luggage so that they don’t get knocked around as much as in my case and I also pack a flat cotton pad inside the palettes to hold the product firm and give them extra protection. Remember that your brushes are expensive too and so I am lucky enough to have a Ted Baker hard brush case (from Boots I think) and so I pack my brushed in there so that they don’t get damaged in transit.

If you have any other travel tips for your makeup and skincare, please let me know in the comments below and Ill update this post and link to you.

The main thing on my holiday is to look after my skin and wear as much or as little makeup as I want in the evenings. It’s up to me if I cant be bothered applying makeup every night (yes even I get bored of applying makeup) and luckily my husband doesn’t care if I go out with little to no makeup or a full face. The two things that I will say to use when wearing makeup in a hot climate is to use a great setting spray to keep your makeup on your face and this is where I recommend Urban Decay All Nighter Spray as it ensures that your makeup is budge proof even in the heat, and lastly to lightly set/powder under your eyes up to your lower lash line as this stops an concealer moving about and also aids in stopping your mascara melting onto your warm under eye area and giving you panda eyes!!!!

Have fun on your holiday and remember to look after your skin and have fun with your makeup.
